What Do Presbyterians Believe?

Presbyterians believe the Bible is God’s Word. It’s trustworthy and carries real authority, telling us what we need to know about who God is and how we come to him. If we believe something, it’s because we’re convinced Scripture teaches it.

The gospel sits at the heart of it all: God saves people who can’t save themselves. What makes us right with God isn’t how hard we try or how good we’ve been. It’s grace alone, received through faith alone, in Christ alone. That truth shapes the way we preach and the way we treat each other, especially in how we handle our own failures.

We’re a Reformed church, and we believe God is sovereign over history and over each person’s life. That brings us comfort rather than fear. You’ll find our beliefs laid out in the Westminster Confession of Faith and its catechisms, documents from the 1640s that our pastors and elders vow to uphold.

We baptize the children of believing parents, seeing baptism as the fulfillment of God’s covenant promise to Abraham: to be our God and the God of our children.

We hold these convictions seriously but with open hands. Our officers commit to them fully, yet our members come from many backgrounds, and membership doesn’t require full subscription to the Confession.
